Emi is passionate about cooking traditional Japanese home-style dishes. After years of learning from three renowned chefs, she became a culinary expert who can prepare almost any authentic Japanese or Washoku dish. A Tokyo native, Emi enjoys meeting travelers and learning about other cultures. She adores food from every corner of the globe but is also passionate about Japanese cuisine and teas, in addition to cats, photography and hiking! She has a deep interest in nutrition science and values using the freshest, top quality ingredients. For your online class, you will learn to make inarizushi (rice stuffed in deep fried tofu pockets) and miso soup together. Inarizushi is a home style sushi, that Emi's mother made for bento for school trips and sport festivals. Emi is excited to share her culture through food and offer the best online Japanese cooking class experience.

  • Ingredients for Japanese online cooking class:
  • 4 sheets aburaage (deep fried tofu)
  • 1 cup (200g) Japanese rice (please use Japanese rice not Jasmine rice)
  • 1 1/2 cup (300ml) water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame
  • Flaked salmon, 1 egg and thinly sliced green cucumber or field peas, for garnish
  • 1/2 cup cabbage or other vegetables like onion, potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp chopped green onion (optional)
  • 2 1/2 cup (500ml) water
  • 1/2 granule soup stock
  • 1 tbsp miso paste
