In order to join our host community, potential hosts apply online. They are asked to describe their cultural and culinary background and why they want to become Traveling Spoon hosts.
Traveling Spoon then conducts a Skype video interview of potential hosts. This initial meeting gives us a better sense of the host, their background and cooking experience, and also allows us to have a preliminary tour of their home. Only the most qualified hosts move on to the next phase of the process.
Traveling Spoon sends a trained ambassador to personally vet the experience at a scheduled time convenient for our potential hosts. Everything from how much the host enjoys sharing stories of their culture to how delicious their food is is rated on a scale. Ambassadors are trained to take note of the small details that matter, like whether or not there are stairs into the home and if the host has pets.
This thorough and personal vetting process allows Traveling Spoon to bring on the best home cooks and to best match those hosts with our travelers.
Not everyone can become a Traveling Spoon host. Only hosts that pass our vetting process are officially invited into our community of the best home cooks around the world.
Think you might be a great fit to joining our host community? We look forward to reading your application!
