What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Cooking experience: (1-6 guests) Meet your host Fusina in her charming canal house apartment in Amsterdam, complete with classic Dutch architectural details like wooden ceiling beams. In this hands-on Amsterdam cooking class, you’ll learn to prepare traditional Dutch pannenkoeken (pancakes) from scratch, a simple and typical Dutch meal. Flip both a savory version topped with crispy bacon (Dutch pancetta) and a sweet version made with local apples.

This 1.5-hour Dutch pancake class is the perfect way to experience authentic home cooking in Amsterdam. After cooking, sit down with Fusina at her kitchen table to enjoy your savory and sweet pancakes while she shares stories about Dutch culture, family traditions, and everyday life in the Netherlands. A simple yet authentic culinary experience that includes Dutch wine, this class offers a true taste of Dutch hospitality.

This Amsterdam pancake cooking class is perfect for couples, families, beginners, and children. It’s an especially fun experience for families traveling with kids - little ones will love mixing the batter and flipping their own pancakes!

Notes:
1. Fusina’s home is located on the second floor (first floor by European standards) and is accessible via a long, steep staircase, very typical of traditional Dutch houses. Please keep this in mind when booking.
2. Two glasses of Dutch wine per guest are included in the experience.
3. Fusina’s home accommodates up to 6 guests comfortably. Groups of 7 or more are welcome, though the space will feel a bit snug due to the cozy layout of her European home.

PERSONALLY VETTED REVIEW
A Traveling Spoon ambassador visited this host. Here is their personal review.

I had a lovely time learning how to make Dutch pancakes with Fusina! Fusina welcomed us to her beautiful and full of personality apartment located in the heart of Amsterdam canal districts. Fusina is extremely friendly and a great storyteller. It was great to hear about Dutch traditions, Dutch food and also Fusina’s personal impressive life story, most recently as a cook book author. The Dutch Pancakes were delicious and it was very fun to learn how to cook it. Fusina was very patient with my lack of flipping pancakes skills. All in all a great experience!

Our history was delightful. She took time to share about herself and her passion for organic and sustainable food sources. She introduced us to other Dutch delights as well.

What a wonderful opportunity to be part of a Dutch home meal for a couple hours. The host was kind, confident and thorough in her training. It was also nice to learn about Dutch history and culture from a native. I even went to the store to buy supplies to take home and recreate the appetizer. I would recommend this experience.

Fusina is not warm and inviting. Quite the opposite. I was more concerned with the cleanliness of her kitchen. No one was reminded to wash their hands before handling the ingredients or food. I did and I was handed a dish towel from the kitchen rack. How many people have used this before me. Where are the paper towels? The pitcher and glasses for water were etched badly due to hard water or were they dirty? Not inviting . I would never bring children to her home. This experience was a waste of money. Go someplace else .
