Rosanna and her brother Antonio's family have been running a farm on the Amalfi Coast for four generations. Their main focus is to share traditional food and wine produced from organic ingredients grown on their farm. Their family traditions of making home-made pasta, pizza, mozzarella and wine are delightful and a wonderful way to get an inside glimpse into this Southern Italian family's way of life. Rosanna along with her husband Pasquale are passionate about sharing their cultural and culinary traditions in an authentic way with families and guests that visit their farm. Your experience takes place in this working farmhouse that has goats, pigs, a lemon orchard and vineyard. The farmhouse is also a B&B so while you may see other guests, your Traveling Spoon experience will remain private.
Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.
Cooking experience:
(2-12 guests)
Your host Rosanna (and Pasquale when he is available) will warmly welcome you into their family home and farm in Pianillo with a cup of coffee. Take a visit to their wine cellar to pick up a bottle of wine and explore the garden where you will pick up seasonal vegetables and herbs to use in your Amalfi Coast cooking class. Next, join Antonio (Rosanna's brother who will be your translator) and Rosanna in the kitchen for your cooking lesson, and as the Italians say, "mettere le mani in pasta" - put your hands in the dough! Rosanna will walk you through how to make two different types of fresh, hand-made pasta from scratch - typically scialatielli (Neapolitan pasta) and gnocchi alla Sorentina (pasta from potato flour). Next, learn to make sauce using farm fresh ingredients, organic vegetables and their very own organic extra virgin olive oil produced at the farm. After cooking, join Rosanna and Antonio at the table to enjoy the Italian meal you helped prepare over organic wine. In addition to pasta, enjoy charcuterie and grilled or marinated vegetables like zucchini, eggplant and peppers from the farm. You will conclude your meal with a slice of tiramisu or torta caprese (flourless chocolate almond cake) and limoncello! On days they are available, Rosanna's husband Pasquale and children, Martina and Giuseppe may join you at the dining table.
If you would like to learn how to make pizza instead of pasta, please note your preference in the 'Dietary Preferences' section of the booking form.
Notes: Rosanna speaks limited English so her brother Antonio will act as your translator. Wine is included in the cost of your experience. Your hosts are happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free meals on request.

Antonio received us and showed us the neighborhood. He walked us to see a very nice view of a cliff. Then we came back to the house and he introduced his family. His sister Rosanna was the one in charge of the pasta making class. Antonio was also involved in this part because he’s the one who speaks English better. The pasta class was very fun and we were really proud of what we accomplished. We felt really at home meeting the entire family and chatting while the food was being prepared. While we were waiting for the pasta, we had the chance to taste the amazing cold meats they make in the farm and also we were invited to try the wines the host makes. The food was amazing! Everything was really fresh and you could tell that all the veggies were grown at home! Definitely recommend.

My fiancé and I were visiting the region and really wanted to do a cooking class. However she is gluten free (severe allergy). Rosanna and Pasquale were incredible hosts and took care of everything. She made GF pasta and I made glutenous, constantly cleaning the prep area and washing their hands. The food came out great and we shared a bottle of their homegrown organic wine (amazing). 10/10 and would totally recommend this experience to anyone, regardless of dietary restriction.- joshlO11 May 01, 2024
Rosanna and Pasquale were truly amazing to work with! From the quick and easy communication upfront, to advising us on how to get there (which was not easy or inexpensive, but so worth it), to the experience itself. When we arrived, Pasquale sat in the garden with us with wine they had made in their own cellar. Everything on this property was homemade, natural, and filled with love. We have dietary restrictions which is why we booked with them and we were able to enjoy everything they had to offer - very accommodating to our needs. This was the highlight of our trip to Italy and I would highly recommend booking with them. If you are looking for a good time, authentic stories, and fresh, homemade food - this is the class for you :)- saragO December 08, 2023
Pasquale is the star of the show! He greeted us with coffee or elder blossom water. Mmm. Then he told us about his organic farm producing wine, cheese, olive oil, limoncello. He and his wife Rosanna also let rooms! Their farm is very close to the most grandiose views over the Amalfi Coast. We all had a very hands on experience to make gnocchi and scialatielli, a local pasta version. So fun to make it. While we made pasta Rosanna made farmer sauce out of tomato, eggplant and olives. There was tiramisu made table side by Pasquale for dessert. So delicious!- adelheim March 25, 2023
