Meet Antonio and Christina

Antonio’s passion for culinary art led him to attend a cooking school, where he learned the fundamental elements that helped him transform foods into dishes to be enjoyed and appreciated in their entirety. He has been passionate about cooking since he was a child, watching his mother make home-made pasta – he was the sous chef, always happy to help her! Later Antonio graduated from culinary school and worked in many local restaurants – where he perfected the technique to make local, homemade dishes such as mariamman tortelli, gnocchi and pici. His food is influenced from his native land, Salento and homemade pasta combined with produce from the sea and the countryside. Antonio is excited to share his knowledge and his mother's traditional hand made pasta with those who would be interested in sharing a homecooked Italian meal in Tuscany!

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (1-6 guests) Your experience takes place in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, in the heart of the Maremma, where Antonio and his wife, Christina, live with their two dogs, Larry and Cora, in a typical, rustic countryside home surrounded by grain fields and the sound of nature. Start your experience with a welcoming aperitif while Antonio explains the menu. Antonio is the chef while Christina is his sous chef, one loves to cook while the other enjoys hosting - making them the perfect couple! A few dishes that you might try are antipasto misto toscano (local produce - cheese, crostini, cold cuts), stuffed maremmano tortelli or tagliatelle or potato gnocchi and tiramisu, served with a glass of local wine.

Cooking experience: (1-8 guests) Join Antonio and Christina for a 2-hour hands-on Tuscan cooking class at their charming farmhouse in Campagnatico, in the beautiful Maremma region of Tuscany near Grosseto. Learn to prepare authentic Italian recipes from scratch while experiencing the flavors, traditions, and hospitality of rural Tuscany. Begin your experience with a stroll through their garden, where you'll discover the seasonal vegetables, herbs, and fruits they grow and forage a few fresh ingredients to use during your class. Then, step into the kitchen to learn traditional Italian cooking techniques as you prepare two classic Tuscan dishes from scratch. Depending on the season and available ingredients, you may learn to make fresh handmade pasta such as Maremmano tortelli, tagliatelle with tomato sauce or rich Tuscan ragù, or homemade potato gnocchi, while mastering the techniques behind authentic Italian pasta and sauces. After cooking, relax and enjoy the delicious farm-to-table meal you've helped prepare while sharing stories with your hosts. This authentic farmhouse cooking experience is perfect for couples, families and travelers exploring Maremma, Grosseto, or southern Tuscany who want to discover traditional Italian cuisine with local hosts.

Notes: Two glasses of local Tuscan wine are included with your experience. Antonio is happy to accommodate gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, and vegan diets if notified in advance. Please share any dietary restrictions, allergies, or food preferences when booking your Tuscan cooking class so he can prepare accordingly. Please note that, as is common in many Italian homes, Antonio's home does not have air conditioning.
