Birgit studied at an agricultural college where she learned about soil culture, crop production and processing her own produce - preparing jams, vinegar, pickles, sauerkraut, honey, bread, cheese and sausages. This was followed by many years of working in restaurants and professional kitchens. Currently, Birgit works at the agricultural college as an economic manager, and loves to cook for her friends and family. She lives in a rural region with her two lovely boys, it is in west of Austria bordered by Switzerland and Lichtenstein. Her home is surrounded by mountains and is in the lap of nature. Birgit even has her own garden, where she grows vegetables, herbs and fruits - apple, plum, walnut, hazelnut, fig trees, red and white currants. She also has some chickens for eggs and bees for her honey production. Birgit and her family are very traditional and so excited to share their unique food, culture and customs with travelers.

Walking in Rankweil, observing the afternoon sun creating contrasts of shadow and light on the surfaces of houses and gardens, seeing people walking carefree without cars and motorcycles, I thought this village was a blooming garden, an oasis of humanity. My thoughts became a reality as we arrived at Birgit’s house, where she and her two children joyfully welcomed us. With a hospitable attitude, they led us to their wonderful garden to enjoy a marvelous dinner with the mouth-watering Austrian delicacies they had prepared. Your food is excellent, Birgit, as is your hospitality!- thanost September 25, 2024
Great host, spoke very good english, took the time to share some information about the country, easy and tasty recipes, table set up very professional. Had the pleasure to meet her wonderful and helpful boys, the oldest speaks very good english. The only thing, since menu is small it would have been nice to chose, upon reservation, what we have like to learn to cook. Otherwise it was a fantastic experience and recommend the course.- Nicole C September 14, 2023
