Walking in Rankweil, observing the afternoon sun creating contrasts of shadow and light on the surfaces of houses and gardens, seeing people walking carefree without cars and motorcycles, I thought this village was a blooming garden, an oasis of humanity. My thoughts became a reality as we arrived at Birgit’s house, where she and her two children joyfully welcomed us. With a hospitable attitude, they led us to their wonderful garden to enjoy a marvelous dinner with the mouth-watering Austrian delicacies they had prepared.
