    • On a snowy December afternoon, we enjoyed a fascinating Roman inspired light lunch with Andrew and his partner. Andrew’s background in classics brought ancient cuisine to life, with dishes inspired by Roman era texts like Apicius. The moretum, a garlicky herb and cheese spread, was bold and flavorful, while the roasted leeks wrapped in cabbage were a standout, comforting and subtly sweet. Savillum and dates with walnuts and honey provided a simple yet satisfying finish, alongside a tangy posca drink. Beyond the delicious food, the history and conversation made the experience truly special. Andrew and his partner were warm, engaging hosts, and the meal felt thoughtful, educational, and wonderfully welcoming.
