You know you have had a good evening when you smile remembering it, we were greeted warmly on arrival and the friendship, chatter and laughter continued until we left. We were treated to a huge array of delicious dishes all with a story and complimented each other perfectly- a master class in how to roll the perfect Penang Spring Roll - to chicken that was so tasty and tender, everything was delicious. We met and dined with the whole family which was wonderful especially meeting grandma who was delightful. We came away feeling like we’d been made part of the family and will treasure the memories for a long time.

A Must-Do Food Experience in Melaka with a Local! I was invited to Catherine’s home in Melaka for an authentic Peranakan meal, and it was truly a special experience. Visiting a local in her home, sharing stories, and enjoying a home-cooked meal that I never found in restaurants made this unforgettable. Her home is just a 15-minute cab ride from Jonker Street, and it was refreshing to step away from the touristy area and visit a quiet residential neighborhood. It offered a glimpse into everyday local life in Melaka - one of the highlights of my trip! Catherine was incredibly kind, warm and thoughtful. She reached out before the experience to check my preferences, helped me with directions, and then served me the most delicious meal (best Laska I had on my entire trip!): Kerabu Laksa, Nasi Lemak, and Kuih. If you’re looking for unique things to do in Melaka, I highly recommend this experience. Catherine also offers a hands-on cooking class in her home in Melaka, where you will learn traditional Malay and Peranakan dishes - perfect for food lovers!
